Hi, I just start my detox yesterday on my own, I am doing fine, I drinking Green Meal Shake in the morning. Yesterday on my first day, in the morning a Green Meal Shake and I had three Enzyme before my lunch ( my lunch was mash room pate with spinach ). and My dinner was Green Meal soup, mix of ( Kale, Avocado, Apple, Coconut water ), and before i go to bed I had Psyllium-Detox clay cocktail. I don't have the Rejuvelac ready yet, would be ready on my 3rd day. My Question is I feel like I want to chew on snack or like bread. My second day I had Green Meal shake again and Kamut water so far, but I feel like eating something, Can I eat like orange fruit or fruit salad or green salads? Thank you so much, I wish I was in Chicago :)

thank you Karyn, i love your patience it brings the best out of me :-) i have done a one week without bread this past week, sthg i thought was not possible : i have less sugar and food (in general) cravings, i go to bed without dinner because i am not hungry! (miracle!!) it is funny how one food leads me to crave two or three "not so good" food". coffee leads me to eat more and food that is heavy on my body and bread i noticed makes me crave for greasy food and for pastries! so just cutting out coffee and bread is huge! (but i hate more meat instead i noticed...) Your support helped me do that for one week with less meat, so i am thinking of doing it again next week, the 30 days is a process and a goal for a near future. i need to buy your book and take it one step at a time as you say. I am so grateful for your kindness and for the knowledge you bring to me after years of struggling with my body, me and my body now have conversations! we are a team :-) Veronica

Hi Fran--The detox is a four week process that is designed to take you to a new level of health. Detox students have overcome weight issues, skin problems, fibromyalgia, insulin dependence, insomnia, sinusitis, and much more. The detox focuses on restoring the body's balance and it's natural rejuvenation process. The class meets once a week for 4 weeks. November's detox started last Wednesday but the next detox we will have will be in January. Detox tuition is $250. January is typically our largest detox class as I am everyone's New Year's resolution! You can also buy my book 'Soak Your Nuts' (about $17) which outlines the entire detox week-by-week. Finally, you can follow our group on Facebook 'Cleansing with Karyn' which is a support group and open forum for current and past participants in my detox. Thanks for your questions and please keep them coming!
Take Care, Karyn

Understood, thanks for clarity. I can have an addictive personality, maybe my best and worst trait so I also recognize the addictive characteristic in Kombucha. Think I may also need to begin the weaning process, but then I hope the dietary Gods can overlook my occasionally-frequent raw cacao over-indulgences...

Good questions. Yes, you can drink herbal tea on the detox, however, I recommend that you get in all the drinks on the protocal first. If u still have time and space after that then go ahead and drink the tea. I definitely recommend herbals teas or if you are going to drink green tea, I would suggest Tai Chi Green Tea. On occasion, I’ll drink hot herbal tea or the Tai Chi Green Tea.
Kombucha is great especially for people transitioning away from soda and soft drinks. I don’t believe you should drink more than half bottle a day (8 oz) because it can get addicting. I used to drink a lot more of Kombucha and I had to sort of wean myself off at ties. Now I’ll drink a glass on a rare occasion, but overall there is nothing wrong with it. Yes there is a miniscule amount of alcohol in it but it has little to no impact on my system.

Thank you Karyn - that is very helpful.
I have a couple more quick questions:
1. Can we drink herbal, organic and uncaffeinated teas during our detox? Do you drink (hot or cold) teas?
I have begun to really enjoy the Jiaogulan tea I recently purchased (just before detox) from your cafe. I also enjoy drinking Bija brand and other organic, incaffeinated teas during the day.
2. What are your general feelings on Kombucha? Do you drink it? If so, how often? You drink no alcohol does Kombucha fit into your no-alcohol category?
Thanks again for all your input and support.

Justino- it is better to separate your liquids from when you ingest solids. Consuming liquids while eating affects the digestive enzymes that break down your food. Try to wait to drink until about an hour and a half after you stop eating for optimal digestion.
Veronica- it sounds like you've already made great adjustments. It is a journey and like I always say, we cannot go from A-Z overnight. I would suggest detox. It is only 30 short days out of an entire year but it will help you to continue to make positive changes for your body and help give you the clarity and strength to overcome more of the mental challenges. Also, the more healthy food you eat the less you crave the other stuff but it does take a while. If you detox several times a year I have no doubt that you will get where you want. Also, I would consider trying some sort of spiritual outlet- perhaps meditation or yoga. That being said, a very important part of the process is to not judge yourself or beat yourself up. Keep me posted.

Quick question:
Is it ok to drink rejuvelac when eating or no liquids during and for a certain time after eating to help maxmize enzymes and the digestive process?

I wish to do the detox but i feel teat i am not ready. i cling to certain food because they bring psychological comfort. I have tried hard but still cannot give up on the bread and on the pastry (once or twice a week) and on meat (less than before). I have already made many changes (coffee, cow milk, more organic food, less meat and more organic meat anyway, no sodas, no fried food, no macdonald's). I need to bite i have noticed so food i cannot "bite" is difficult for me. I have decided to check on some recipes to have more variety, less boredom which lead me to go back to my "well know comforting food". I have thinned a little and have much less bloating and acid reflux and insomnia and stress and gastro and cravings so i am glad but i wish to loose weight for good and it is frustrating even though i have changed so many things to still have a "belly" and to still be 20 kgs over my weight. Sorry for this long post but i wanted to share with you, my way to participate to your detox class no matter what (i live abroad) and to ask for some advice. and to say THANK YOU! Veronica
