Hemp History Week
Hemp History Week at Karyn's
I'm so excited to announce that Karyn's will be participating this year for Hemp History Week June 4th-10th. In honor of Hemp History Week, Karyn's Fresh Corner will be preparing a special hemp seed salad that will be available at our all-you-can-eat or by-the-pound salad bar. Karyn's Fresh Corner, the longest-standing raw foods restaurant in the country and located at 1901 N. Halsted, in Lincoln Park, will also have a raw hemp ice cream special. We will also be passing out Hemp History Week stickers to children who visit Karyn's Fresh Corner.
In addition to hemp foods at Karyn's Fresh Corner, we will be raising awareness to Hemp History Week by hosting a FREE movie night at Karyn's! We will be showing the film Hemp Hemp Hooray! This documentary visits hemp fields and factories around the world and explores hundreds of eco-friendly hemp goods made from the most versatile plant, cannabis hemp. There will be a discussion following the film.
This is what Karyn's is offering but check out other Hemp History events in your state here!
A little bit about Hemp History Week from their website www.hemphistoryweek.com
What is Hemp History Week?
Now in its third year, Hemp History Week is the largest national grassroots marketing and public education effort to renew strong support for hemp farming in the U.S. and raise awareness about the benefits of hemp products. The 3rd Annual campaign includes grassroots events across the country, nationwide retail promotions, a day of action, and a national restaurant program.
Through Hemp History Week 2012, we will:
- Celebrate America's rich history with the crop before it was outlawed and educate the public about the barriers to hemp farming in the United States. Advocate for a federal policy change while sending a strong, positive message to President Barack Obama and Congress to end the ban on hemp farming and let farmers grow the versatile and profitable crop. Engage consumers by showcasing the range of hemp products available and the nutritional as well as environmental benefits that they provide.
